Quite why she felt compelled to get involved in this project is beyond me (she executive produces too). It’s unoriginal, slow and boring.
Jeffery Dean Morgan is the bearded creepy landlord who likes to creep around Hilary’s apartment in the dark putting drugs in her wine. Hilary is the stressed out doctor who has recently come out of a relationship after being cheated on. She likes to drink lots of wine. Every night. Some sort of background to the creepy guy’s life is alluded to but never explored, Christopher Lee pops up as his grandfather, but honestly it’s hard to see the point of his character. Things escalate (slowly) until the film’s climax which is the same old tired nonsense.
By the way, how many nails shot from a nail gun at point blank range does it take to kill a man? Watch The Resident and find out!! - Actually don’t bother. I’ll tell you now: over 9.
New from Soderbergh. Great looking cast, but a not very original looking plot. I will reserve judgement.
